What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

One memory I’ll never forget is the day my kids met my partner’s—wide eyes, careful hellos, unsure steps toward what would become family. At the beach, waves danced and the breeze held possibility. Aubrey led art in the sand, Leo searched for gecko eggs, Seth’s giant booger sparked belly laughs, Miri tossed a coconut until sleep came, Yuna beamed in her sunhat, and Cosmo’s quiet softened. A woman asked if we ran a day care—little did she know, a family of 8 was just beginning.

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000, I’d give back to Namahana Education Foundation, a local nonprofit startup I support that’s working to open the first public middle/high school on Kaua‘i’s North Shore—a historic step for our community and future generations. I’d also take my kids to Disney, a dream we’ve carried for years. Supporting the future while savoring the present—that’s what purpose and play look like to me.
