Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

My daughter is only two, but I am always struck by how happy, confident, and vocal she is. I am so very proud to be raising a strong little girl, and I am trying to teach her (through actions and words) that emotions are good, that it's okay to say no, and that her voice matters. All of this feels incredibly rewarding, especially since I grew up as a people pleaser and went through a few abusive relationships. I have a chance to help her break cycles by learning to stand in her truth.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

I will never forget the very first time my daughter giggled. I was singing the song "Bubble Butt" to her in a goofy voice. Seeing her eyes light up and the huge smile on her face filled me with incredible joy. Now, I go full ham with her because I'm always trying to make her laugh. I think she's the one person who truly and deeply appreciates my goofball side. I will make funny faces, do silly voices, and joke around with her. Now, she has her own sense of humor and loves to mess with me.

What would you do with $20,000?

I want to use this money to plan incredible experiences for my daughter: a glamping trip in Big Sur, her first big beach vacation, and road trip to Northern California, museum experiences, fun classes to learn new skills or hobbies (she's already in ballet, but I'd love for her to learn Spanish), and so much more. Right now, she is so adventurous, and she loves exploring and doing stuff. I want to expose her to nature and the beautiful outdoors in a really meaningful way.
