I'm a mom of a sweet 16yr old autistic daughter. I've helped her overcome so many obstacles. While dealing with so many of my own. Thanks♡
We would like to thank you for supporting Liza Brown in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
I was lost and unsure of what path to take in life. My daughter not only needed me, but I needed her. When I legally adopted her at the age of 3, I had to learn quick not only how to be a mom, but also how to be a mom to a special needs child. I was told she would not be able to do so many things, like talk, read, write and so many other things. That ignited something in me to help her overcome those challenges. Now at 16yrs old, she does it all. And I'm so proud to be her mom.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget? It's so hard to pick just one due to my daughter amazing me consistently as she grows. I can't ever forget the first time she called me mom at the age of 4. When she was placed in my home at 3, she didn't talk, just made noises and pointed. When she started saying one word and pointing at things as I taught her, was huge. One day she got off the school bus and called out to me MOM and ran to me. That was the most amazing day ever.
What would you do with $20,000?I would love to invest it into my daughter's future. She loves to draw. And now we make short stories with each drawing. I would love to make them into kids books. To help her with her future and make sure she has some type of income. Even though she is now considered high functioning autistic, I'm not sure of what direction she could go in as far as employment. Helping her become an author to share her amazing talent would be yet another accomplishment for not just for her, but for US. Thanks♡
