What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

I find it especially rewarding when I teach my son a life skill and then see it come to life. I view my role as mother to be someone who gives my son a safe space to make mistakes, to bring his challenges to and to be someone he looks to as a teammate in life. I grew up with low confidence and was highly self conscious through high school. I have purposely worked to empower my son with confidence to stand up for himself, to shine on stage and be comfortable in his own skin.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

My son was in 1st grade and his class was set to perform a dance in front of his entire school. He came home terrified about being in front of a crowd. I reassured him that if we prepared, he could step into that performance with confidence. We practice his dance together at home many times and organically grew his confidence. When it came time to perform, he was front row, rocking his head back and forth, completely confident to perform. My mom heart beamed seeing his confident shine.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would put away part of it for my son's future. I would also use part of it to take an unforgettable trip with my son. I am a strong believer in collecting memories, not things. I am a huge fan of "experience" gifts rather than "stuff". I would love to take my son to a Kansas City chiefs home game (his FAVORITE football team) to see his FAVORITE player, Patrick Mahomes. I know it would be an awesome memory I know he would cherish forever (as would I).
