Lei'Lani Miller

I was shot 7 times on 12/4/24, And nothing but being a mother to my son has kept me going. To see him smile I’ll go the extra miles.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Most rewarding part about being a mom, is seeing your child blossom and grow up before your very eyes. Yes it might be bitter sweet because our little babies aren’t so little anymore. But seeing them doing or saying the things they weren’t able to do or say before will leave you amazed with tears in your eyes. It makes everything we endure as mothers worth it.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

One memory of my son I would never forget, would be the first day he said mama. As a newborn and infant my son spent a lot of time with his dad because, I worked overnight 12hr shifts to provide so naturally my son became a daddies boy and basically refused to say mama. So after I got shot me and my son spent endless quality time together and one night he grabbed my face and finally said mama. I do recall crying like the biggest baby after but felt so proud that my baby could identify me.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would invest into my sons future so he wouldn’t have to endure the hardships I had to. I would want to put my son in the best schools, in a safe neighborhood with less gun violence because he deserves it.
