Lauren Rayford

As a single mom who works night shift as a nurse in the NICU, some days I go 24 hours or more without sleep. But I wouldn’t change it.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

This may sound cliche but the happiness of my child is the most rewarding part. Being a mother you sacrifice so much of yourself from the time of conception, and for some even before, until the time you leave this earth. See my kid happy and thriving, watching him learn and discover the world around him is the most amazing thing to witness. Motherhood is hard at every stage, but seeing your hard work help this little person you created blossom is all the reward you’ll ever need.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

There are so many things that come to mind, but the one that sticks out the most was my son’s first laugh. It happened the first time I had to go back to work after giving birth to him. It was the morning of July 1st 2021. He had his first overnight with just dad and when I got home that morning his face lit up, he smiled so big, and his first little laugh came out. He was so excited to see his mama and it has been the same every morning I get off work for the last almost 4 years.

What would you do with $20,000?

What I would do with $20,000 is pay off some debt that I have. It would give me some financial freedom to do more things with my son. My dream to be able to travel the world with him. Make memories that would last a lifetime and do things that one day he may want to with his own children, if he chooses to have them. I want to be able to expand his world by doing things that would keep him learning and growing.
