Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part of being a mother is the ability to impress good habits and qualities into the children that last. I love noticing that they’ve really learned from me whether it has to do with prayer, self confidence, or even the clean up songs they sing to themselves without my help now. Knowing that the things I teach really matter and will last them a lifetime makes it all worth it!

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

I will never forget when I first went to pick up my niece and nephew from my father’s home after their mother (my younger sister) was arrested. It was a harrowing time for us all and the children were alone in the home with multiple police officers while my sister was in the back of a squad car. As soon as they saw me their faces lit up and my niece’s first question was “Do you have some orange juice at your house?”. We all couldn’t help but laugh at that and I was surprised by their resilience!

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000 I would buy a mobile home within my budget or if I’m able to use it as a down payment on a forever home for my family. All of my siblings and even my parents have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives. I would like to purchase a safe home for my niece and nephew and my son who’s on the way to always have a place, knowing that there will always be someone they can rely on and a place for them to live happily.
