I am the mother of eight children. I am a professional advocate who serves survivors of gender-based violence and helps them find safety.

The most rewarding part of being a mom is watching the humans that I brought into this world be amazing citizens and live to their best potential. Seeing how my children have internalized the lessons I've taught them to be responsible humans who love humanity makes me very proud. Having done it as a single mother for years makes me feel superhuman. I'm excited to see what they will accomplish. I will always be their number one cheerleader.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?Last year we went on a roadtrip from New Jersey to New Orleans, and back, over the course of one week. We made it a roadtrip so that we could save money, since we wanted to travel. A roadtrip also allowed for us to really experience different states in a more intimate way than flying would have allowed. We made stops in Virginia, North Carolina, Atlanta, and New Orleans. We were able to grow closer as a family and experience a beautiful vacation together. That was a very rewarding experience.
What would you do with $20,000?I've started my own business, perhaps some money could go to that. We are in need of a new dishwasher - perhaps some money could go to that. A kitchen remodel! My kitchen could use the money. I would definitely use the money to improve my quality of life and that of my family.
