Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Healing. The most rewarding part of being a mom is healing yourself from your own traumas because children are a mirror of your most imperfect flaws, and when you aren’t healed, the reflection staring back at you is disheartening. I love growing and learning more about myself in my motherhood journey. My children allow me to space and grace to make mistakes and I heal when I apologize or adjust my reactions to them.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

A memory we will never forget was traveling from Atlanta to Los Angeles as a family of 5 (all under 7) because my oldest drew a sunset at school and I said “oh Ivery, you know where they have really pretty sunsets? LA! Let’s go see that!” We visited the Santa Monica Pier, went to Disneyland and viewed the most gorgeous sunsets from every rooftop restaurant possible. It was an expensive trip but the kids talk about it all of the time so it was worth every penny.

What would you do with $20,000?

We are a family who loves traveling together. With this $20,000, I would take my girls & hubby to visit my dad in Dominican Republic. My father has yet to meet all 3 of my daughters and I’d love for them to experience all of him. Financially, we haven’t been able to get to DR because life is just so expensive and I would love for my kids to experience the country where I would spend my summers, school breaks & holidays. We would use the money towards traveling to create more memories
