Jahya Lucas

Being a mother is a blessing I didn’t know I would be able to receive for a long time. Now that’s it’s here, I want to be more than enough.

We would like to thank you for supporting Jahya Lucas in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Everything I’ve been doing for myself up until now, all my achievements, finally have meaning. Knowing that I can give my son love and care everyday is the greatest gift, and watching him grow with peace and love is the most rewarding part.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

My little one is not yet a year old, and I’m hoping I won’t forget every day of our times together so far. When he cups my face with his hands, as if to say “I see you mom, and I love you” and the moment he was born are my two favorite memories so far. He has known my needs before me and bent me to be better to myself and in return be better for him.

What would you do with $20,000?

To me, this amount is life changing. I would love to finally move out of my moms house and give Amir and I a stable home to live in. I would put it towards stable transportation and our home. We are still always struggling for our meals and formula, and finding childcare I can afford. Right now, the best I can do is stay with my mom and work and ask for those things. I want to do more for him though, and I would like him to grow up knowing we don’t have to stress about how much space we occupy.
