Being my son’s mom has completely evolved me. It has made me realize the true meaning of life, and has encouraged me to slow down.
We would like to thank you for supporting Gretchen Pirtle in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
This is such a loaded question. I think the best and only answer is loving another human being with every cell in your whole body. I didn’t know that this kind of love was possible. Now that he is here, he has changed every fiber of my being. He is my purpose. He is my every worry. My every fear. It is so gratifying to truly live for someone. To be your best self every day, so that he can be proud to call me mom. Being able to love him so unconditionally is the reward.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget? There are so many answers to this! I want to say it was the day he was born or the first time I heard his heartbeat. But really, it is in the little details of our small, ordinary life. The first time that he bunked his head and started really crying because he was in pain, he looked around for me. His mom. He knew that I could make him feel better. And guess what? I did. I brought him comfort and he searched for it in me. It made me feel like I wasn’t an imposter of a mom.
What would you do with $20,000?I would prioritize the money to reflect the needs of my family. Part of it would go straight to savings. A fraction of our money would go into experiences for my family and I. This would include money towards our kitchen garden which helps cultivate memories and bonding moments for my son and I.
