Felicia Smith

I'm a super mom because I've raised my autistic son on my own, with very little support while managing a career and volunteering.

We would like to thank you for supporting Felicia Smith in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The best part of being a mom is seeing the tiny human I grew become his own person, exploring his hobbies and passions, and ultimately teaching/guiding him to be an intelligent, caring, strong, young, black man in today's harsh world, while being autistic.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

A memory I'll never forget with my son is this year he participated in Special Olympics WV Basketball. While we aren't new to basketball, it was the first time competing in this arena. There were struggles with coaches, however when it came time to compete he was focused and ready. He gave it his all. The day after competing were awards and he won gold in his division. While receiving his medal, he looked to me with so much pride in his eyes.

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000 I would like to put a down payment for a house for my son and myself; he would love to have a puppy and a yard. This money would help with that. A small vacation for a week to somewhere of his choosing will be lovely too!
