Desiree Cunningham

My oldest son and his daughter died 13 months apart. Yet, I still had to raise my youngest son and care for my dying mom while grieving.

We would like to thank you for supporting Desiree Cunningham in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Seeing my children achieve their goals in spite of the challenges that this world throws at them. My remaining son was 8 when his brother died, and his resilience keeps me inspired to keep going. To know that in spite of what he has been through he still keep pushing and growing. Every goal that he accomplishes makes me so proud to be his mom!!!

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

The day my oldest son graduated from high school and he had his little brother right by his side. Those two were inseparable. Their bond cannot be broken even with the death of my oldest the bond is still there!!! When my oldest left to go to school, the baby would be up to wish him a good day at school. And he would be waiting for him when he comes home and asks him if he needed help with his homework. How is a 4 year old gonna help a senior in high school with his homework πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

What would you do with $20,000?

I currently help domestic violence victims and people in need, that was my older son’s biggest ministry was to help people. So, I carry that legacy on in his memory. So the money would help me to continue to help those in need. It would go a long way to help me get housing for victims of DV. There is such a shortage of safe places for victims in my area. And, I am trying to help them to get the help they need.
