Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Seeing my girls truly happy. I didn’t want them to think my marriage to their dad was “normal love”. I wanted them to see me strong and standing up for myself and them. Their dad went to jail for a year for domestic violence - in front of a minor. My oldest is so smart and just being around her is so much fun. I was pregnant with my youngest when the physical abuse started and I swear it bonded her and I. She is the sweetest little girl and gives the best hugs.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

We shared a 1 bedroom when we lived at my parents for a year after the DV charge on my ex. It was a lot at times and a hard year but my girls kept me going. I wouldn’t trade that year for anything. Our first Christmas just the 3 of us was a great memory. Peaceful, calm, and happy. I was able to get an apartment for me and my daughters and just that peace is amazing. I’m proud of the 3 of us.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would either pay off some debt, look into a down payment on a house, or take my daughters on a trip. They have never seen the beach and I would love to take them to where I grew up in Florida. I think they would absolutely love that.
