Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Aside from the usual rewarding joys of seeing your child grow up feeling loved and safe, I also got to work with my son donating Wonder books to elementary schools and traveling nationwide to visit those schools to promote kindness, inclusion, and self-acceptance. I also created a free, inclusive coloring book that children with differences, disabilities, and special needs could relate to while also serving as a teachable tool for all children, available for free on our website, pjsforpj.com

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

Although PJ passed away tragically and unexpectedly two years ago at age 5, we had the fullest life! Disneyland, Catalina Island, horseback riding, motorcycles, camping trips, etc. But, if I had to pick one memory, it would be our trip to Cabo San Lucas. He loved the beach, the boating, and our whole family was there staying at the same resort to celebrate a wedding. It was the best and most memorable week together.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would guarantee a donation of HALF ($10,000) to the NPO CCAKIDS.org that will continue to donate Wonder books to schools in PJ’s memory and assist children, like PJ, with their excessive medical expenses. I would also like to create a memory garden for PJ in our yard and take a trip to Catalina island to bury a lock of his hair on the mountain where we go to watch the sunrise together.
