What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part of being a mom to Bonye is watching him grow into such a thoughtful, curious, and strong young man. Every time he asks a deep question, shares his dreams, or just bursts into laughter at something silly, my heart swells with pride. Knowing that I get to walk this journey with him—guiding, learning, and growing together—is a gift I never take for granted. Being his safe space, his biggest cheerleader, and the one he turns to when life gets confusing or exciting.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

One unforgettable memory of Bonye was when he got in trouble at school. His teacher planned to call me, but he asked her to wait because I had a job interview and “we needed the money.” He promised to do better—and he did. I found out later when the teacher praised his growth. That moment showed his deep care, maturity, and love. Even in a tough spot, he put family first. It’s a memory I’ll always hold close.

What would you do with $20,000?

I’m working hard to buy a safe, stable home for my son, Bonye, and me—a place we can finally call our own. As a single parent, saving for a down payment in Canada’s rising cost of living has been incredibly tough. We’ve faced our share of housing struggles, but I’m determined to give him the security every child deserves. Winning this $20,000 would bring us closer to that dream—and I’d give 10% to another single mom fighting to keep a roof over her child’s head.
