What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part of being a mom is seeing the light in my kids’ eyes when they find something they enjoy doing. Whether it is exceeding at a sport, trying new foods, making a new friend, doing well in school, or just feeling confident about themselves, the small wins they experience each day makes everything worth it.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

The most pivotal memory with my kids I will never forget is receiving my youngest son’s diagnosis with 15q14 Microdeletion Syndrome. Once he was born, multiple birth defects were found that led to genetic testing. With little information, and a 3 week stay in the NICU, I will never forgot having to explain to my other kids how their younger brother is “special” and we have a new responsibility as his family to protect him. As a family, we’ve learned to appreciate the small accomplishments.

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000 I would either save or invest it to potentially support my youngest son’s IVF journey in the future. With 15q14 Microdeletion Syndrome, he has a 50% chance of passing this down to his future children. Given the hurdles he’s had and will continue to overcome, this money could help him ensure a future generation does not have to endure the same.
