I became a widow almost 7 years ago. Since then I started my own small business and try my best to keep babies happy, healthy and busy!
We would like to thank you for supporting Amber Vance in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
Raising my children on my own has had many difficult challenges but also allowed me to build a deep, personal connection with them both. The small wins and breaking generational patterns is so important to me. Seeing my children happy and navigating through grief if so inspiring. Teaching my children that you can be strong and overcome great loss, while continuing to be a great person and show love to yourself and others.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?I would have to say the first time I took them on vacation by myself. I became my nephews legal guardian 6 years ago when he was 15 years old. I took my two children and my nephew to Hawaii. We went on so many adventures and had a blast. I had never been to Hawaii myself so being able to take them and do all of the things they wanted to do was so special to me. They ask to go back often! It was such a freeing feeling.
What would you do with $20,000?I would finish creating my business plan for a salon that I hope to open this year. I would use some of it to help to open my shop. I have a community based salon idea that I think would make a great business. Then I would be able to show and teach my children to never give up on their dreams. Also, with this business I would be able to provide them with so much more in their lives and help pay for college and necessary things they will need in their lives as they continue to grow!!
