Amara Igboneje-Asor

My boys never fail to remind me how blessed they are. I work two full times jobs, while building a business and making plans to get my DrPH.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Watching the little humans that I birth grow, learn, and discovering their own way through life while knowing and trusting that I am their safe space. The little moments that come with the hugs, tears, laughter, and the “ I love you more than pizza and Fortnite.” The greatest gift and honor so far is being the one who gets to shape their world and continue to cheer them on to become the amazing young men that they are going to be.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

I planned a surprise to take my kids on their first international trip to Jamaica earlier this year because my oldest was hospitalized last year for a week. The flight was early in the morning and they had no idea where we were going. My youngest being the inquisitive human that he is kept asking and I gave in and told him that he’s going to military school. I watched my oldest scold him telling him that he needs to stop stressing me out and actually listen. They enjoyed the trip overall.

What would you do with $20,000?

Put 50% in their separate savings account and use the remaining 50% to start a medical fund for my oldest who has sickle cell. Hopefully as technology advances as he gets older, he can be in the position to go through the bone marrow transplant and not have to be burdened by the medical bills.
