Amanda Carranza

I decided to stay in college FT while pregnant. I quit modeling in LA to move back home to Michigan… I made the Dean’s list and a baby boy!

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

I feel like the most rewarding part of being a mom is being able to give your child the love and lessons you needed most… it’s knowing that you have the opportunity to create a beautiful human being and a loving home. It’s evolving into a better version of yourself… It’s being able to heal that little girl within yourself through each contact nap, bedtime story, and forehead kiss knowing it will have a positive impact on them for life.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

My son is only around 4 months right now, but I still have one memory that will always remain… The moment I first heard his heartbeat after I was admitted to the ER and diagnosed with a potential miscarriage. I had to wait 24 hours to really know if my baby was okay and I was almost to the 2nd trimester, so the feeling of finally knowing he was okay after 24 hours of Hell... that feeling of gratitude is unforgettable. I felt it again when he was first born and realized that I truly created life.

What would you do with $20,000?

If I was awarded $20,000 I would put it towards our first home and a savings account for our son. Financial stability wasn’t something my family was blessed with growing up, so I switched schools a lot before middle school. We’re currently paying upwards $3k monthly for renting, utilities, etc. to ensure we live in a nice neighborhood. I want to give my son a house he can grow up in… a house we can write on the wall to track his height, one that he can call home.
