Despite several diagnoses saying I may never be a mom, I never gave up—today, I’m forever grateful for the title, experience and my son!
We would like to thank you for supporting Amanda Bernardo in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
After struggling with infertility, every giggle, hug, and milestone feels like a miracle. Every part of this chapter is rewarding because it’s one I didn’t know would be part of my story. I don’t take any of it for granted as I know others are still praying and trying to grow their families, and I know how difficult that road can be. To those still waiting to be called mom, just know that you’re not alone and I hope my story can offer a little hope as I know first hand how powerful hope can be.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget? As a children’s book author, sharing my love of reading with my son is one of my favourite memories. I love reading to him in his nursery, sometimes books by our favourite authors, other times ones written by his mama. He has inspired so much of my writing, long before he arrived, and now that he’s here too. My newest book on my road to motherhood was written while he often slept in my arms. Those quiet moments together allowed me to create something that will capture this chapter forever.
What would you do with $20,000?If I won $20,000, I’d love to do a few things: 1) take a family trip to Europe so that Mateo can meet all of his great aunts/uncles and cousins; 2) illustrate my newest children’s book to bring our story to life and inspire others whose road to motherhood may be a little harder; and, 3) make a donation to Fertility Matters Canada - an org that helps all Canadians reach their reproductive health hopes and dreams by providing support, awareness, education, and equitable access to fertility care.
