The most rewarding part of being a mom to a son who is becoming a man is knowing that, I am putting out into the world a being that women feel safe around. Someone who will do good in the world. A being that has morals, values, and respect, he will do the right thing, for not only those he knows but also for those he happens to walk past or enter his perimeter. Knowing how your child acts when you are not around and those people coming back to you saying what an awesome kid you raised!

Motherhood has taught me the importance of patience, understanding, and grace—not only for our children, but for ourselves and one another. It has shown me that no mother should ever feel alone in her journey. Every day, we give and provide with honor, strength, courage, and unconditional love, often in ways that go unseen. Being a mother has also taught me to stand firm in my beliefs, trust in God's plan, and remember that even on the hardest days, there is always a tomorrow.

First and foremost, I would invest in my son's future. I would also pay it forward by supporting two incredible organizations: AMT Children of Hope and the Baby Safe Haven Foundation, which helps prevent infant abandonment, and The Oomph From Katy Foundation, created in honor of my high school best friend. OFK supports families affected by cystic fibrosis, organ transplants, cancer, and health challenges faced by first responders. The remaining funds would go toward home improvements.
