Fighting for my autistic child to get a great education and quality of life to my best efforts while looking for work that accommodates him
We would like to thank you for supporting Vennesa Rainford in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
The most rewarding part of being a mom is seeing my sons thrive everyday. With my autistic son he is thriving in speech therapy at school and when he's able to point to the pictures to communicate I see how far he's come along. My 2 month old is happy and I wouldn't trade either of my kids for the world. It's very rewarding that even in my time of struggles I'm still able to keep a smile on my children's face and they are none the wiser to wear I'm going through.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget? For my first born the 1 memory I won't forget is when we went to my mom's house for Christmas and he wasn't walking or standing on his own and his birthday was the next day. Once he got around my baby sisters' he started standing on his own with falling and took his first steps. It was covid time so we weren't around family that much. For my second born I won't forget the first day he started smiling. He's 2 months old and his smile lights up the room.
What would you do with $20,000?I'm currently not working due to childcare issues and that is putting a strain in my family. I would use the $20,000 to pay for bills until I'm able to secure childcare and a flexible job. I would also like to treat my family to something nice because it's been really hard, especially, on my husband because he's working hard but we still have bills going past due because I can't work right now. My previous job as a Substitute Para doesn't offer maternity leave pay in NYC.
